'Kinds'. including hyperevolution within 'kinds'
This topic overlaps with many others:
For information about index fossils, relative dating of strata, and related claims of circular reasoning, see the geologic column page.
For resources dealing generally with problems of the claim of a catastrophic global Flood, see below.
For information about the patterns of fossil distribution throughout and within the strata, and also geographically, along with the implications for evolution or the biblical Flood, see the sorting/distribution of fossils page.
For information about the succession of changes through the strata and what they tell us about evolution, as well as resources dealing with claims about gaps in the fossil record, see the fossil record page.
Resources dealing with a particular formation in relation to the Flood can be found on separate pages, for example Grand Canyon.
There are many problems for a global flood, including:
There being too many fossils for it to be a snapshot of the world at one time.
It does not explain the order of fossils or identifiable ecosystems found in the rocks.
It does not explain features such as trace fossils (trackways, raindrop impressions, etc.), different strata that must have formed in different depositional environments (including desert) and formations such as caves later filled in by subsequent strata that cannot have solidified, been dissolved from the rock, and the filled in all within a single flood.
There are trees and clonal organisms that are older than 4,000 years.
Claim CH570: High mountains were raised during the Flood
